Adelaide Fashion Festival 2015: What’s to come…

So it’s that time of year again….yes that’s right…the city is preparing for Adelaide Fashion Festival 2015.

Adelaide Fashion Festival is a celebration of Adelaide’s up-and-coming and established designers. Adelaide is bursting with creative talent and I personally love when creativity is celebrated. This year the festival will have a whole new look with most shows taking place on Hindmarsh Square, check out the program to see which shows you would like to attend.

Not only will there be runway shows but there are also a couple of speaking events; The Fashion Insiders Breakfast and the Connecting With China Workshop, this is such a great opportunity for those wanting to get into the fashion industry.

The festival will run over 4 days from the 22nd to the 25th of October. In anticipation of the festival, there have been a couple of events around town to get us all excited about what’s to come. Be Young PR and Little Lion Communications held a party at Pop Bar in the Adelaide Casino so we could hear from some of the designers about what they are looking forward to and One Rundle Trading Co. held a runway within their beautiful Dulwich store, to give us a taste of the fashions to come…here are some moments captured at these events….

Couture+Love+Madness AW15 Show ‘Silk Road’

Last Sunday I was invited to attend the Couture-Love-Madness AW15 show, which showcased the ‘Silk Road’ collection. Held at a carpark/warehouse location, I loved the juxtaposition of  the location and lux fashion on show.

My friend and designer Cristina Tridente welcomed guests, along with channel 7’s Amelia Mulcahy. Cristina shared her inspiration for the collection, coming from her trip to Qingdao in China, the oriental theme showed through in the luxurious fabrics and the overall decor of the space.

Below are some of my favourite looks from the show. You will also see some photos of the amazing head pieces worn by the models, aswell as the delicious food and fortune cookies guests were treated to.

Fashion Icons

You may remember an earlier post, where I was excited to announce that the Art Gallery of South Australia would be playing host to Fashion Icons, an exhibition featuring over 90 couture pieces by the biggest designers in the world. Fashion Icons is exclusive to Adelaide, and features pieces from the collection of The Musee Des Arts Decoratifs in Paris.

On the 24th of October, the day before the exhibition opened, I was invited to attend the media preview, where I was able to see the exhibition. It was so amazing to see each piece in person. The fashion showcased ranges from the 17th century to today, and some of these pieces were specially designed for celebrities. We are so lucky to have this exhibition right here in Adelaide. Pamela Golbin, Chief Curator of Fashion Icons (seen below) welcomed us into the exhibition, sharing her knowledge and insight with us, she was so excited to open the exhibition here in Adelaide.

Below are a few photos I took while walking through the exhibition. This is truly heaven for fashion, design and art lovers. The craftsmanship that has gone into each one of these pieces is like no other, and when seeing them as apart of this exhbition, the added videos screening on the walls, and the way in which they have been presented create a story of the years behind these pieces.

The Art Gallery is the place to be right now, with so many events going on as apart of Fashion Icons, including designer talks, fashion movies, and workshops. Check out the event program, and buy an exhibition ticket (they are extremely reasonable!), as it will give you entry into most events.
