I recently got to live the Lush life for one evening at the relaunch of the new Lush store in Rundle Mall…which I must mention is the biggest Lush store in Australia!
I think we all love a good blow dry….Am I right or Am I right?
Well I’ve got some news for you! Fresh Hair and Body…the ever growing chain of salons here in Adelaide, now have a service that allows us to get our hair washed and blow dried in 30 mins. So just think about it, if you have an event on after work and you don’t have the time to go home wash/style your hair and then get to the event on time, all you have to do is book in to get your hair done at the Fresh blow dry station and you’re good to go, plus with 8 salons around Adelaide, there’s bound to be one near you.
I highly reccomend checking out Fresh Hair and Body next time you need your hair done. Why not treat yourself once in a while, and lets face it, styling hair is such an effort…it is for me anyways, so any reason to let someone do it for me is reason enough!
Here are some photos from the recent launch of the Fresh Blow Dry Station, I got some curls put through my hair…
Do you want to know where to go, to get a great facial that actually helps the overall health of your skin?
Well the place to go is Essential Beauty.
Essential Beauty recently invited me to try out one or their beauty treatments, when I first received the invitation I wasn’t quite sure if I wanted to accept it, because when I think of Essential Beauty, the only thing that came to mind were the pictures of scary piercings I see when walking past their stores. Before accepting, I went on their website and had a look at their menu of treatments available and saw that they offer a range of facials….so I thought I’d try one of them out.
I went for the asap Antioxidant Facial, when you go on their website and click on the facials available they provide an outline of the steps that go into the facial, so you can go in knowing exactly what to expect….which is great, because its important to know what’s going on your skin. The asap Antioxidant Facial follows the following steps:
- Remove any eye make-up with asap gentle eye make-up remover
- Cleanse with asap daily facial cleanser
- Apply asap AHA / BHA exfoliating treatment mask and leave for up to 20 minutes
- Remove your mask using asap daily exfoliating facial scrub
- Lather on asap gentle cleansing gel and rinse it off
- Apply and infuse asap super C serum then massage it in
- Apply and infuse asap super A serum then massage it in
- Apply and infuse asap soothing gel then massage it in
- Apply a thick layer of asap advanced hydrating moisturiser
- After 5 minutes, massage your face with damp hands
- Apply asap advanced eye repair + and lightly massage
Now it’s no surprise that coconut oil is known to be good for the skin, but what I do feel is worth sharing is what brands may be better. I can’t say that I’ve tried many but I have tried 2 different forms; liquid and cold pressed. I’ve mentioned in an earlier post about the liquid coconut oil I was using from The Body Shop, and how I really like the way it left my skin feeling, but I have to say I prefer using the cold pressed form now.
The lovely people at Coconut Culture recently sent me a jar of Virgin Organic Cold Pressed Coconut Oil to try out, I have been using it for a little while now and I have been loving the way my skin has been feeling the morning after. I keep the jar at my bedside and apply a small amount of the oil to my face before going to bed. I find that on cooler nights the oil is quite firm and I have to warm it up in my fingers to make it easier to apply, but if it’s been warmed up from the heater being on (all the time these days!) the consistency is perfect to apply. I really don’t like the feeling of oily skin but if you use a small amount it seeps into the skin in no time, which is a huge plus. What I also like about the cold pressed oil over the liquid is that there is no wastage through accidental spilling!
I don’t use this every night, as I’ve noticed with other products that if I use it all the time it stops working. After using this coconut oil, my skin feels so soft and so much more even. I think my skin also slightly glows in a more health way….if that makes any sense, it does in my head. The last thing I love about this coconut oil is that it is ethically produced in Sri Lanka. For those of you who don’t know, my background is Sri Lankan, so it’s always nice to see brands ethically supporting those in underprivileged countries!
‘Marsala’ is the 2015 Pantone colour of the year.
This beautiful rich, wine colour with a purple tinge is the perfect colour in my opinion and Lush have made it even better by creating a marsala coloured liquid lipstick.
Lush sent me this little bottle of perfection to try out, as you will see below, it has a small applicator which allows you to fill in the lips without getting it all over the place. Also even though it is called a liquid lipstick, it’s not ‘annoyingly liquidy’ (my made up words!) so it doesn’t get everywhere. The texture feels really nice on the lips and it is so easy to apply. It is amazingly moisturising and I am not one to love the feeling of lipstick on my lips but I had no problem keeping this on my lips for quite a while. I found it long lasting, I think I had it on for about 6 hours and it would have lasted even longer but I had to take it off before having a shower. It also lasted through me eating waffles which really surprised me, no re-applying necessary!
As for the actual colour I can’t tell you how much I love it and trying this liquid lipstick from Lush has inspired me to try out some other colours in this range, let me know if you have tried any other colours, I would love to hear your opinions!
